Southwest Corner | Gerrard St. + Carlaw Ave.
The Gerrard-Carlaw Parkette Dog Park is located on the border of Leslieville and Riverdale at the Southwest corner of Gerrard Street and Carlaw Avenue. This small dog park is busy and usually well-maintained. The off-leash area is completely fenced and has two double-gated entrances.
The ground cover is a mixture of dirt and wood chips and several trees provide ample shade during sunny days. There are several benches and a short paved path through the park between the two entrances.
What to Expect
This park is busy. Mid-day the park is frequented by dog walkers, it is not uncommon to see 2-3 dog walkers and 10 or more dogs. During mornings and evenings, there is a constant cycle of owners and their pets, though they tend to stay for a shorter period of time.
What’s Not to Like
- Noise. The park is bordered by a train tracks used by GO and Via trains heading to Union Station and a busy fire hall is across the street. This is not a good off-leash area for dogs spooked by loud noises.
- This park is often muddy in spots where the wood chips have worn away.
